Hurricane® Industrial Turbine Ventilator

Bradford Hurricane is a high-performance, wind-driven roof ventilator that helps clear hot, stale and humid air from commercial and industrial buildings without using mains power. The vertical-vane turbine design extracts heat and moisture to support cooler, drier, safer interiors while reducing the load on mechanical cooling.

Built for demanding sites, Hurricane pairs robust aluminium construction with a lightweight form that's easy to install on new builds or retrofits. Finish and variant options suit coastal and corrosive environments, BAL-rated bushfire-prone areas, cyclonic regions, and high-temperature exhaust applications. Hurricane is also ideal for factories with contaminated air and corrosive atmospheres, giving specifiers a reliable, low-energy way to improve air movement at scale.

Features and Benefits

Bradford Hurricane promotes continuous airflow through large volumes, helping to lower internal heat build-up, reduce condensation and improve air quality for occupants. The wind-powered design means no running costs, and the low mass and variable-pitch bases simplify installation across common roof slopes. With durable materials, tested performance and optional dampers and bases, Hurricane delivers dependable, low-maintenance ventilation that can also reduce HVAC energy use and total cost of ownership over time.

Key Features

Natural, no-energy operation

Wind-driven extraction lowers heat load and humidity with zero power draw

High airflow, low maintenance

Vertical-vane turbine delivers strong throughput with minimal service needs

Engineered for harsh sites

Marine-grade equivalent aluminium as standard, with options for coastal, corrosive and cyclonic regions, BAL-rated bushfire-prone areas, high temperature exhaust applications and factories with contaminated air and corrosive atmospheres.

Flexible integration

Lightweight body, variable-pitch bases and damper options for new build or retrofit projects

Hurricane Range

Sizes (turbine diameter): 300, 400, 450, 500, 600, 700, 900 mm

Construction: Aluminium turbine, varipitch base and flashing

Special Variations

Hurricane Standard: Designed for extraction of heat, humidity and pollutants for a number of applications such as buildings, warehouses and school gyms.

BAL (Bushfire Rated): Designed for bushfire prone areas up to BAL 40. Constructed from non-combustible materials and fitted with an ember guard mesh to prevent embers from entering the building via the ventilator.

CR (Cyclone Rated): Suitable for commercial roofs (class 2 to 9) in cyclonic wind region C.

FR (Fire-Rated): Designed to handle high template exhaust applications in the event of a fire. High temperature exhaust release capability in the event of a fire.

HI (Heavy Industrial): Designed for use in factories where trace elements of fumes and air-borne particles need to be extracted. A protective polyolefin coating can be applied to Hurricane HI when the environment is considered potentially harmful to aluminium. Suitable when air extraction is required for large open industrial environments such as powder coating and welding facilities.

S2 (Corrosion Resistant): Designed for use in moisture rich and dusty conditions where exhausting fumes and/or air-borne particles is of high importance. Ideal for water reservoirs and other environments that require reliable ventilation to minimise condensation under metal roofs to prolong life of metal structure. A polyolefin coating can be added to increase corrosion protection.

Finish Options:

  • Mill finish
